VISUAL ART PROJECTS

Artistic Standpoint
digital photography series (ongoing)
2019
USA

Artistic Standpoint is a radical site-specific photography series. It uses a conceptual approach to connect the artist with place, identity, time & perspective. The core of the project is the german word Vergegenwärtigung, the process of realization of the temporary condition of one’s environment and its reciprocal connection with the artistic onlooker.

Printmaking Project
linocut and monotype print on paper
2017-2020

A selection of linocut and monotype prints of various sizes and material. I started to work on these when I didn’t have access to my sound equipment and took to drawing, writing and photography.

What I tried, was to convey the minimalistic manner of my sound composition to visual art, more specifically the craft of printmaking. Especially the tension between the sketched design and the material- and tool/ability-related cuts was of interest to me.

wire series
digital photography (series, ongoing)
2015 -
internationally

The idea for this photography series came to me in 2012 when I was travelling through Germany by train. I was fascinated by the variation of these found structures that hold region-specific characteristics. I started documenting and visually composing these telephone and power lines. The result is a minimalistic series of established plains, an architectural landscape carrying power.

TACITURN
monotype print
2019
Berlin, Germany

Taciturn is a series of monotype prints. After Tar Drops, this art book is the second printed publication in Studio Heomugeoto’s work cylce Stages of Grief. The project resulted from reflecting on different forms, representations & interpretations of darkness. Analog visual means create a radically reduced yet rich suggestive spectrum that ranges from the sonic, to digital, imaginative and beyond.

Tar Drops
photographic prints on paper
2018
Mdina, Malta & Berlin, Germany

Tar Drops is a series of photographs that I created during a stay on Malta, where I worked on an installation for the Mdina Biennale. Sound is my main medium, but for artistic research purposes I use practices like drawing, writing & photography to create on my compositions. Therefore this series emerged from research artifacts. All photographs are found pieces, that are radically recomposed, yet minimally manipulated. These photographs are fragile, yet rich landscapes. Their reduced composition can be experienced akin to old chinese & japanese paints. Then again the underlying elegance & dynamic tension within the form can be perceived, maybe even heard, as musical.
